Color Pyschology

Red and Red Orange

The color of blood and fire. It is associated with -

  • passion, desire, and love
  • energy
  • war
  • danger
  • strength
  • power
  • determination

It is a very emotionally intense color and is said to enhance human metabolism, increase respiration rate, and raise blood pressure.

It's a very hot and sexy color which is why it has always been one of my favorites.

It is the primary color at the very top of the rainbow that gradually becomes red-orange then orange and so on. There are many shades of red as there are of all the colors because it is a spectrum or rather a gradient scale.

Yellow

The meanings behind this warm cheerful hue are pretty interesting. On one hand, yellow stands for -

  • Happiness/Joy
  • Positivity
  • Freshness
  • Clarity
  • Energy
  • Optimism
  • Enlightenment,
  • Remembrance
  • Intellect
  • Honor
  • Loyalty

On the other hand, it can represent cowardice and deceit. Ever hear someone referred to as "yellow-bellied"? It's pretty much the equivalent of "scaredy-cat". However, I prefer to stick with positive attributes.

Yellow-Green

A vibrant shade that is a mix of... you guessed it! Yellow and green. Since it is a combination it is considered a tertiary color or combination of a primary color + a secondary color.

The meanings behind this vibrant hue include a combination of the meanings behind yellow and green since it is a combination of the two.

However, just like most colors, it has its negative connotations as well...
